Fire Extinguishers in Hyderabad

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Essatech supplies fire extinguishers in Hyderabad for offices, schools, hospitals, shops and apartment blocks. We help you pick ABC powder, CO2, foam, water or kitchen units for each area, fix them on the wall with signs, and set a refill schedule. You also get reminders when refills fall due.

This page is part of our turnkey fire fighting projects range. Picking an extinguisher is easy to get wrong. A water unit in a server room or a CO2 unit in a small closed store can do more harm than good. Fire extinguishers in Hyderabad need to match what can burn in each room. We help you choose, fit and track them, and we look after refills through our fire extinguisher refilling service.

Which extinguisher for which fire

Fires are grouped into classes by what is burning. Each extinguisher type works on some classes and is unsafe on others. The table shows the common match-ups for Indian buildings.

How many and where to fit them

The number depends on floor area, fire risk and how far someone must walk to reach one. Good practice is to place units along exit routes, near stairs and close to specific risks such as panels or kitchens. A person should never have to walk past the fire to reach an extinguisher.

Mount them on brackets so the handle sits at a height most adults can reach, and keep the space in front clear. Fit a sign above each one, so it can be seen from across the room. IS 2190 gives the detailed rules for selection and placement, and we follow it on every layout.

Colour codes, labels and expiry

Most extinguishers in India have a red body, with a coloured band or label to show the type. The label lists the fire classes, the rating and simple instructions. Read it before you need it.

Each unit should carry a tag showing the last inspection, the last refill and the next due date. Cylinders also have a manufacturing date and a service life. Pressure tests and refills follow the schedule in IS 2190 and the maker's label.

  • Check the gauge needle sits in the green zone
  • Check the safety pin and seal are in place
  • Look for dents, rust or a cracked hose
  • Check the tag shows the next refill date

Who should not use which extinguisher

Never use water or foam on live electrical equipment, because water conducts electricity. Switch off the power first if you can. CO2 suits electrical fires, but it pushes out air, so avoid using it in a small closed room with people inside.

Powder makes a cloud that is hard to see through and can damage electronics. Use it where the fire is the bigger risk. Wet chemical units are for cooking oil fires and should not be swapped for water in a kitchen. Short hands-on fire safety training helps staff remember these rules under stress.

Extinguisher supply across Hyderabad

Offices in Hitech City and Madhapur usually need ABC units on each floor, CO2 near server and electrical rooms and a wet chemical unit in pantries with fryers. Schools and hospitals in Kukatpally and Secunderabad need units along every corridor and near labs, kitchens and generator rooms.

Apartment blocks in Miyapur and Kondapur need units near lifts, in basements and next to DG sets. Many associations buy through us and then track refills on one shared list.

Inspections by the Telangana State Disaster Response & Fire Services Department often check extinguisher dates first. Our team supplies fire extinguishers in Hyderabad from the Gachibowli office and sends refill reminders, and the Hyderabad office page lists our other services. For coastal sites, see fire extinguishers in Visakhapatnam.

Standards and approvals

Extinguishers should be built to IS 15683 for performance and construction and selected, fitted and maintained as per IS 2190. Our fire safety equipment page covers hose reels, blankets and signs that go alongside them, and a fire safety AMC keeps their dates in order.

Questions people ask us

Which fire extinguisher is suitable for an office?

Most offices use ABC powder units for general areas, because they handle paper, plastics and small electrical fires. Add CO2 units near server rooms and electrical panels, where powder could damage equipment. A pantry with a fryer needs a wet chemical unit. We match units to each area after seeing the layout.

How many fire extinguishers does a building in Hyderabad need?

It depends on floor area, fire risk, layout and how far a person must walk to reach one. IS 2190 sets the method, and the fire department may add its own requirements. We count units floor by floor from your plans, so nobody has to pass the fire to reach one.

How long does an extinguisher last?

The cylinder has a service life set by the maker, and it must pass periodic pressure tests to stay in use. The contents need refilling on the schedule in IS 2190 and the label, and after any use. Check the gauge and tag each month so an empty unit is caught early.

Do you fit fire extinguishers in Hyderabad apartments?

Yes. For apartment blocks we usually suggest units near lifts, in basements, next to DG sets and at the clubhouse kitchen. We fit brackets and signs and give the association a list with refill dates. Many associations then put the units on a yearly refill plan with us.

Can I use a CO2 extinguisher in a small room?

Use CO2 with care in a small closed room. It removes oxygen to put out the fire, and that can also make breathing difficult for people inside. Use it from the doorway, leave quickly and ventilate before going back in. For small rooms with people, a powder or clean agent unit may suit better.

Do you send refill reminders in Hyderabad?

Yes. We record each unit's refill and test dates when we supply or service it. Before the due date, our team calls or messages you to book collection or a site visit. That keeps your units current and your records ready for inspection.
