A kitchen fire does not behave like an office fire. Oil in a pan can pass its ignition point and flare up in seconds, and water thrown on it makes it far worse. A powder unit may knock down the flames, but hot oil can light up again. A K type fire extinguisher in Hyderabad was built for this problem. This page explains how they work, how to use one and where to hang it. For other kinds, see our guide to fire extinguisher types.
Why wet chemical works on hot oil
The unit sprays a fine mist of potassium based liquid. It cools the oil and reacts with it in a process called saponification. This forms a thick soapy layer that seals the surface and keeps air away, so the oil cannot re-ignite.
Apply the spray gently from a distance, working across the pan. A hard jet can splash burning oil. Never throw water on an oil fire, and switch off the gas or power if you can reach the control safely.
Sizes and what each suits
Wet chemical units are commonly sold in 2, 4, 6 and 9 litre or kg sizes. Pick the K type fire extinguisher in Hyderabad by the number of fryers and the cooking line length. Always check the class rating on the label before buying.

Pairing it with other kitchen cover
A fire blanket is a good partner for a small pan fire. Hang it where staff can reach it without crossing the stove. Keep an ABC fire extinguisher in Hyderabad near the kitchen door for gas and electrical trouble. In dining areas, a water mist fire extinguisher in Hyderabad avoids powder on furnishings.
Our fire safety equipment in Hyderabad page lists blankets, signs and cabinets that go with the unit.
Kitchens we cover across Hyderabad
Hyderabad has dense clusters of restaurants, bakeries and cloud kitchens. Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills hold many fine dining and hotel kitchens. Gachibowli and Madhapur have large staff canteens and food courts serving office towers, where several fryers run through the day.
Cloud kitchens often share a floor, so a fire in one unit can reach the next. We suggest one K type fire extinguisher in Hyderabad per kitchen bay, with clear signs. Inspections by the Telangana State Disaster Response & Fire Services often look at kitchen cover first, so we record unit dates in your file.
If you also run a kitchen in the other city, see K type fire extinguisher in Visakhapatnam.

Standards and approvals
Wet chemical extinguishers should be built to IS 15683, and placement follows IS 2190. Some labels call the kitchen class F and others call it K, so read the label closely. Check the current revision of both standards with the maker before you order.
