This page is part of our CCTV surveillance systems range. The CCTV complaint we hear most is that the camera was there, but the footage could not show who it was. That is a design problem, not a camera problem. A CCTV security system in Visakhapatnam has to be planned point by point, with the right lens, height and light for each view. Our CCTV dealers page for Visakhapatnam covers the equipment we supply.
Start with what you need to see
Every camera point has a job. At a gate or reception you want a face that can be recognised. At a vehicle entry you want a readable number plate, which needs a dedicated camera, the right angle and control of headlight glare. In a car park or yard, a general view showing movement is often enough.
The job decides the lens, the mounting height and the resolution. A wide-angle camera on a tall pole gives a nice overview but rarely identifies anyone. We mark each point on a plan with its purpose before we pick a single camera.
Parts of a CCTV security system in Visakhapatnam homes and offices
A CCTV system is more than cameras. The recorder, an NVR for IP cameras or a DVR for analogue, stores the video. Switches and cabling carry the signal and often the power, and a UPS keeps it all running in a power cut.
Weak cabling and cheap power supplies cause more camera dropouts than faulty cameras. We use proper conduit, crimped and sealed connectors and a labelled cable schedule, so a fault can be traced in minutes.
- Cameras: dome, bullet, PTZ or specialist, chosen per point
- Recorder: NVR or DVR, sized for cameras and storage
- Hard disks rated for surveillance use
- Network switches, with power over Ethernet for IP cameras
- Cabling, conduits and sealed junction boxes
- UPS for the recorder and switches
- Monitor at the guard post and remote view on phones
IP or analogue cameras
Both types are still sold, and both have a place. IP cameras send digital video over network cable and suit larger sites, higher resolution and smart features. Modern analogue HD cameras reuse coaxial cable and suit small upgrades where the old wiring is sound.
For new buildings we usually suggest IP. For a shop with working coaxial cable, an analogue HD upgrade can be the sensible choice.

How many days of recording you can store
Storage depends on the number of cameras, the resolution, the frame rate, the video compression and how much movement each camera sees. A busy gate fills disk space faster than a quiet corridor. Recording only on motion stretches the days, but you may miss the seconds before an event.
Decide how many days you need to keep, often 15 or 30, and the disks are sized to match. More days cost more disk, so we show you the trade-off in plain numbers before you choose.
Night vision, glare and tough housings
Infrared night vision lights a scene the eye cannot see, but range claims on the box are often optimistic. At gates facing the road, headlights and sunlight blind ordinary cameras, so we use wide dynamic range models that balance bright and dark areas. Backlit doorways need the same treatment.
Cameras within reach need vandal-resistant dome housings. Outdoor units should be rated against dust and water, and the cable joints behind them sealed too. See our outdoor security cameras page for housing types, and the PTZ cameras page for large yards.
Privacy and where not to point cameras
Cameras must not look into toilets, changing rooms or neighbours' windows. Put up clear signs that CCTV is in use, and limit live and recorded access to people who need it. In apartments, agree camera positions with the association so common areas are covered without filming inside flats.
Keep recordings only as long as you need them, and set strong passwords on the recorder and phone app. Default passwords are the usual way strangers get into home systems.
Remote viewing and maintenance
Every CCTV security system in Visakhapatnam we install comes with phone viewing set up and tested. Each user gets a separate login, and we test the app on mobile data before we leave.
Cameras need regular care too, from lens cleaning to disk health checks and firmware updates. We offer a separate yearly CCTV contract, and the visits can be timed with your fire safety AMC. Cameras can also be linked to the fire alarm system, so the view nearest an alarm point appears on the guard's screen.
CCTV for Vizag apartments, shops, hotels and warehouses
Apartment blocks in MVP Colony, Madhurawada and Seethammadhara mostly need gate, lift lobby and parking cameras, with number plate capture at the main gate. Shops in Dwaraka Nagar and around Jagadamba Junction need clear face views at the counter and the door. Hotels near Beach Road and Rushikonda add lobby, corridor and car park coverage.
Warehouses and plants at Gajuwaka, Autonagar and Parawada need long fence lines and loading bays covered, often with PTZ or industrial cameras. Long cable runs on these sites usually mean IP cameras with fibre links between buildings.
Salt air and heavy monsoon rain are the main enemies here. Unsealed connectors corrode, water tracks down cables into junction boxes and housings fog up inside. Near the coast we use sealed junction boxes, drip loops, stainless fixings and housings rated for outdoor use.
Our Suryabagh head office designs and installs each CCTV security system in Visakhapatnam, and the Visakhapatnam office page lists all our services here. We also install CCTV in Hyderabad.

Standards and approvals
CCTV equipment must carry BIS registration where the law requires it for that product type. For privacy, follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and take advice if you record staff or the public. CCTV is not part of the fire NOC from the Andhra Pradesh Fire Services Department, though cameras can be linked to the fire alarm.
