NVR Network Video Recorder

An NVR records video in a digital format. It can save recordings to a hard disk drive, USB storage, a flash drive, an SD memory card or other storage devices. It typically uses video capture hardware and software on a dedicated device within an IP surveillance system, and the software can run on standard Linux and Windows operating systems.

An NVR receives video already processed by IP cameras, rather than compressing the video input at the recorder, as a DVR does. It can manage IP cameras at one location. This brings several benefits for buyers:

IP cameras give a sharper picture than most analog cameras, and one network cable can carry both power and video when you use PoE. The system is easy to set up and to expand, because adding a camera is a matter of adding a cable and a licence on the recorder.
