This page is part of our turnkey fire fighting projects range. Most NOC files we see stall on the building, not the forms. An exit is blocked, a hydrant does not reach the far corner, or the alarm panel has been in fault for months. As a fire NOC consultant in Visakhapatnam, we start with the site and fix what an inspector would find. The paperwork is easier once the systems work.
What a fire NOC is and who issues it
A fire NOC, or no objection certificate, is the fire department's written clearance that a building meets fire safety requirements for its height and use. In this state it is issued by the Andhra Pradesh Fire Services Department. Builders usually need it before an occupancy certificate, and hotels, hospitals, schools and factories are often asked for it by other licensing bodies.
We are not the authority. Nobody outside the department can issue a NOC, and we cannot promise one. Our job is to get the building and the documents ready, so the department has fewer reasons to object.
Provisional and final NOC
For new buildings there are usually two stages. A provisional NOC is given on the drawings, before or during construction, to confirm the fire protection design. The final NOC follows an inspection of the finished building, when the systems are installed and working.
Rules and online steps change from time to time, so confirm the current process with the department or its official portal. In general, the department checks fire engine access, exits and staircases, and fire separation. It also checks installed systems such as hydrants, sprinklers and fire alarms.
Documents the file usually needs
The exact list depends on the building, but most files need the same core papers. Get these together early, because one missing drawing can hold up the whole application.
- Approved building plan and site plan
- Fire layout drawings showing exits, extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers and alarms
- Installation and test certificates for each fire system
- Pump test, hydraulic test and alarm test reports
- Occupancy details, with the use of each floor and number of people
- Previous NOC and inspection remarks, for renewals
What a fire NOC consultant in Visakhapatnam does
Our part starts with a gap survey. We walk the building against the fire code and your drawings and give you a written fix list. Then the systems are installed or repaired, tested, and the drawings, certificates and reports are prepared for the file. A fire safety audit covers the same ground in more detail for buildings already in use.
Your part is the building itself. You clear blocked exits, repair fire doors and keep stores off the staircases. The application and fees are in your name, and we help you fill in the forms and attend the inspection with you.
Why the department raises objections
Most objections come from a short list of problems. Hydrant coverage is missing at the far end of a floor or around the yard. Exits are locked, blocked by goods or narrowed by a fit-out. Fire extinguishers are past their refill date, or the alarm panel shows faults nobody has cleared.
Each of these can be fixed before the inspection. A walk-through a week before the visit catches the small things, such as a missing exit sign or a pump left in manual.
Fit-outs and changes of use
A building that passed inspection can drift out of line with its NOC. New partitions block sprinkler heads, a false ceiling hides detectors, or a ground floor shop becomes a restaurant with a gas kitchen. Each change can affect exits, fire load and system coverage.
Tell us before a fit-out starts, not after. We mark which detectors, heads and hose reels the new layout affects and what has to move. Fixing this on paper costs far less than reopening a finished ceiling after the inspector points it out.
Renewal and yearly compliance
For many occupied buildings the NOC has to be renewed. Renewal needs proof that the systems are still maintained, which means service records, refill tags and test reports for the year. Buildings that change use, add floors or rebuild interiors may need fresh approval.
A yearly fire safety AMC keeps those records ready. We can look after the systems and keep the paperwork in one file, so renewal starts with the papers already in hand.
Fire NOC in Visakhapatnam, building by building
Applications here go to the Andhra Pradesh Fire Services Department, and building permission comes through GVMC inside the city or VMRDA in the wider region. Hotels near Beach Road and Rushikonda, hospitals around Maharanipeta and schools in Seethammadhara and MVP Colony all need a valid NOC.
Apartment blocks in Madhurawada and the newer towers along the coast often reach a height where hydrants, sprinklers and a fire alarm become part of the NOC. Factories at Parawada and Autonagar face added checks for stores of chemicals and fuel.
Coastal buildings fail inspections for reasons inland ones rarely do, such as rusted hydrant valves, corroded sprinkler heads and damp alarm panels. We look for these in the gap survey. As a fire NOC consultant in Visakhapatnam we work from our Suryabagh head office, and the Visakhapatnam office page lists all our services here.
Our team also handles NOC preparation in Hyderabad, where the Telangana fire department is the authority.

Standards and approvals
The technical basis is NBC 2016 Part 4, together with the state fire service rules in force when you apply. The competent authority decides how those rules apply to your building. We prepare your documents and get the systems ready, but we cannot promise approval.
