What the unit does
MCP stands for manual call point. It lets a person raise an alarm when they notice a fire. The hooter gives an audible warning at the same place. In a wireless MCP cum hooter both functions sit in one housing, and the unit uses wireless communication as part of a fire alarm system. Press the button, and the signal reaches the system by radio while the hooter sounds at the call point.
When wireless makes sense
Run a cable to every call point and you open walls at every exit. Radio units skip that work, so a call point can go on a pillar, a gate post or a finished corridor in minutes. We suggest wireless call points when:
- An occupied floor cannot be drilled during working hours
- Walls are brick, stone or listed, and cutting is not allowed
- Exits are in finished areas that need a call point added later
- The site is a fit-out, a camp or an event space that will be moved
- An outhouse, gatehouse or shed is far from the main panel
What to check before choosing wireless
Wireless call points suit most buildings, but check these three points first:
- Signal path: steel doors, lift shafts and thick walls cut the radio signal, so a signal test is done at every exit before we drill
- Power: the unit runs on batteries, so its level is part of every service visit and replacement is planned
- Panel link: the call point must be able to report to your panel, directly or through a wireless gateway
What you get from Essatech
Our team assesses your facility and recommends a suitable solution. The job covers:
- A site visit and a radio signal check at each planned position
- A recommendation on which areas suit wireless and which should stay wired
- Supply, mounting and pairing of every unit with the system
- A call test and a sound test at handover
- Maintenance that includes battery checks and signal tests
Why buy from Essatech
Essatech has been in business for more than 15 years and installs wireless MCP cum hooter units alongside wired systems. With 80 years of combined experience in our licensed team, we say plainly when a wired call point is the safer choice for an exit.
Testing and upkeep
Each service visit begins at the exits: we press every call point, listen to its hooter, read its signal and battery on the panel and confirm the unit is reported healthy. Units with a low battery or a weak link are repaired or moved on the spot.
For builders, architects, MEP consultants, corporates, industries, hospitals and defence
Builders and architects use wireless units where finished buildings, heritage structures or glass facades make cabling hard, and in phased projects where a block is occupied before the system is complete. Commercial building owners add them to occupied floors, and hospital owners add them in wings that cannot be opened up. Industries use them for temporary sheds and extensions. MEP consultants can mark the areas where cabling is restricted and we propose wireless positions with signal tests. Corporates use them on occupied floors. Defence establishments, including Navy and Army sites with restricted access areas, can use wireless units where drilling needs permission, and we quote within their vendor rules.
What decides the cost
A quote depends on:
- How many call points the exits and walking distances need
- A wireless gateway for your panel, if it does not have one
- Battery type and the replacement plan
- Mounting height and access to each position
What to send us for a quote
Share these through the quote page or on WhatsApp:
- Floor plans with exits marked
- A note of areas where cabling is difficult
- Make and model of your existing panel, if any
- Your location and the date you need the work done
