What a public address system does
A public address system takes a voice from a microphone, a console or a recorded message and sends it through an amplifier to speakers placed around the building. It reaches every room at once and in the same words, which a phone call or a notice board cannot do. Managers use it for routine announcements, staff calls, shift changes and visitor information, and, when it is linked to the fire alarm, for an automatic evacuation message.
Choosing a public address system
Essatech assesses your facility and recommends a suitable public address system. The choice depends on what the system must do:
- Routine announcements and paging in offices, schools and showrooms
- Voice evacuation linked to the fire alarm, in towers, hospitals and malls
- Loud, weather-resistant horn speakers for yards and plants
- Background announcements with ceiling speakers in lobbies and halls
Voice evacuation with the fire alarm
When connected to an addressable fire alarm system, a public address system can play a recorded message to tell people to leave, and to avoid the lifts. This is far clearer than a siren alone, because people know what to do and where to go. For evacuation, the equipment must be suitable for emergency use, and we design it to meet the requirements that apply to your building.
Zones, speakers and cables
A good system is divided into zones, such as floors, wings or yards, so you can speak to one area or to all. Speakers must be spaced so the sound is even and clear, with no dead spots or echo. In noisy areas we use more speakers at lower volume, which sounds clearer than a few loud ones. Cables run in separate conduit and the amplifier has a standby supply so announcements survive a power cut.
For builders, architects, MEP consultants, corporates, industries, hospitals and defence
Builders and commercial building owners should plan speaker positions and cables with the ceiling and the fire alarm, so one set of conduit serves both. Architects can share the reflected ceiling plan and we position speakers to suit the grid and the finish. Industries need loud, weather-resistant units in yards and workshops. Hospital owners need zones that allow a quiet ward and a loud corridor, clear speech for staff paging and a tested link to the fire alarm. MEP consultants can pass us the PA specification and we price zones and speakers against it. Corporates need announcements across floors and campuses. Defence establishments, including Navy and Army halls, workshops and yards, use PA systems, and we quote within their security and vendor-registration rules.
What you get from Essatech
Essatech provides public address system installation and maintenance in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. The job covers:
- A free site visit to assess the facility, the noise and the zones
- A design with speaker positions, zones and the amplifier size
- Supply and installation of microphones, amplifiers, speakers and cable
- Links to the fire alarm and the telephone system, where wanted
- A sound test in every zone at handover
- Maintenance and support afterwards
Testing and upkeep
Speakers fail quietly, and a dead zone is found at the worst moment. At each service visit we play a test message in every zone, check the amplifier, the standby supply and the microphone, and look at cable joints and speaker cones. A tested system is one you can trust in an emergency.
What decides the cost
A public address quote depends on:
- The number of zones and speakers
- Speaker types: ceiling, wall, horn or outdoor
- Amplifier power and any voice evacuation unit
- Links to the fire alarm and the EPABX, and cable length
What to send us for a quote
You can request a quotation for your facility with:
- Floor plans or the ceiling plan
- The areas to be covered and their noise levels
- Whether the system must connect to the fire alarm
- Your location and the date you need the work done
